Summary
After installing January 2022 Path Tuesday updates, Windows users found their L2TP VPN connections broken when trying to connect using the Windows VPN client.
The bug is affecting only the users using the built-in Windows VPN client to make the connection and third party VPN clients are not affected.
Microsoft confirmed on Thursday that “Certain IPSEC connections might fail” and that they will fix the issue in an upcoming release of Windows.
Recommendation:
This issue can be resolved by applying the fix patch KB5010793.
